If you’ve been catching up with the latest 3D printing news, you might have heard that Phrozen has just launched its first-ever FDM printer as a Kickstarter. After making its first debut appearance in Formnext last year, it has created some noise in the 3D printing community, intriguing the interest and curiosity of those who are thrilled over new innovation and technology.
Meet Phrozen Arco
The name Arco derives inspiration from the Italian word for rainbow — Arcobaleno. Positioned as the machine that will change your FDM 3D printing game, this printer offers up to 4 color printing through its AMS system (and the possibility of up to 16 colors in the future), providing a new level of freedom to the creative mind out there. At the same time, the final name Arco is also translated as a bow, embodying its capabilities to propel your 3D prints with the speed and precision of a well-made bow in the hand of a skillful archer.
Larger for More Creations at Once
FDM 3D printing often has more practical usage in comparison to resin 3D printing. For example, while resin 3D printing is most commonly used for miniatures and figurines for display or tabletop gaming, FDM printing is often utilized to create daily tools that are more functional.
Because of this, we understand that a larger printing volume will be a game-changer for FDM printing, as a lot of the stuff we print for daily use is often bigger than the typical miniatures. With Arco’s expansive 300*300*300 mm3 printing volume, printing larger models or simultaneous printing of parts became more convenient.
Multicolor Printing
What's better than a monocolor printing? It's for sure, a multicolor printing. By connecting Chroma Kit AMS systems into the Arco, you can use our self-developed FDM slicing software — PIXUP Slicer to give you the capabilities to print models with various different color parts.
Currently the Chroma Kit is available for printing up to 4 colors in one print, but we are currently testing the possibilities to expand the options to up to 16 colors printing in the future.
Hyperspeed Acceleration
Empowered by dual 18 mm gears and a 9.5 torque ratio HGX extruder, Arco could easily achieve acceleration up to 30,000 mm/s2. In addition, the printing speed is averaging at the impressive speed of 600 mm/s, up to 12 times faster than conventional FDM 3D printers.
Patented Cooling System
While printing TPU filament is prone to failure in other FDM printers, Arco’s patented ultra-close cooling system design significantly reduces the distance between the gears and the heat source. It ensures consistent and even extrusion performance across various materials, including for flexible ones like TPU.
Improved Structure, Higher Stability
Taking inspiration from how a supercar was designed for speed optimization, Arco’s structural design shifts weight to the bottom of the printer, creating a low-gravity base to enhance stability. To further enhance the structure, it’s also paired with 4 thickened aluminum stands, ensuring a super stable Core-XY structure and minimal wobbling for top-quality printing.

Arco will be equipped with an external recirculation system that features a HEPA (High-Efficiency Particulate Air) filter, a ventilator fan, as well as a vent to attach your duct hose (not sold with Arco). There will also be a fan attached to the extruder which helps to cool the model during printing.

Hello Phrozen team, I have put the down the early deposit on the new Phrozen Arco but I would like to know if the printer will work with the ChromaSet from Co Print which was also on Kickstarter. I have already backed that project so I am hoping that it will be compatible with your new 3D printer.

ChromaSet from Co Print runs individually and replace a printer’s software control in some degree, thus we have no control over their software and hardware, also the printer compatibility of their product. Mass production will begin in May 2024, and the products will be shipped to local warehouses in July 2024. According to Kickstarter’s rules, all the backers’ shipping information will only be collected through a survey after the end of the project. After the campaign ends, we will collect all backers’ information and deliver our product from the local warehouses. Please note that you will receive the tracking number after your package is shipped out from the local warehouses. The exact delivery time will vary depending on your delivery address and couriers.
