If you’ve been following our social media, be it our Instagram or Facebook community, you must have seen the news about the new resin 3D printer launching in just two weeks. Yeap, you know it, the new Phrozen Sonic Mini 8K S.
We get it. You must be wondering what’s the difference between this new S thing compared to the original Sonic Mini 8K we launched in 2021. So today, we are going to peel it all out and reveal everything you wish to know about this brand new resin 3D printer.
Hitting All the Sweet Spots
If you’ve wanted to get the Sonic Mini 8K for a while now because of its high resolution (we mean, IT IS the highest resolution 3D printer on the market), but feels that it’s too much of an investment for your occasional printing hobby, then the Sonic Mini 8K S is right up your alley!
Ultra-High Resolution at 22 µm
Just like its older sibling, the Sonic Mini 8K S offers that same beyond-handcrafted-details resolution. With an XY resolution at 22 µm, you can print incredibly realistic models exactly like how it was shown on the screen.
That porous skin texture on your favorite superhero bust? Check.
That intricate scar marks on your tabletop miniatures? Check.
With the new Sonic Mini 8K S, never miss any details on your prints ever again!
Compatible with Open Format
We know that everyone has their own favorite slicer software, and .CTB might not be your favorite. Hence why we designed this new printer with an open format. The new Sonic Mini 8K S will support .PRZ file format, which is specially developed and optimized for Phrozen printers. With the new open format feature, the new .PRZ format would be compatible with any of your favorite slicer software without any restriction, no matter if it was Chitubox, Lychee, or even VoxelDance Tango.
Compact and Lightweight
Although it has pretty much the same printing area as the Sonic Mini 8K (just one centimeter less on the z-axis), the Sonic Mini 8K S is almost 3 kg lighter! At just 10 kg, this printer is lightweight and compact, so you can easily snug it on that last corner of your desk corner, or move it around the house or the office when you need to.
Brighten Your Space with the New Color
Over the years, Phrozen has come up with various warm color cases, including the classic red for the Sonic Mini and the iconic orange for the whole Phrozen 8K series. But, this time, we are startling the crowd with a bold fluorescent green case. Looking sleek and trendy, the new case color will brighten up your room and soon become the centerpiece of your workspace. We mean, what not to love from this classic highlighter color?
Well, now that you are equipped with all the essential details about this new printer, there is one last thing that you must be curious about. And let us tell you, you would not believe it!
The new Sonic Mini 8K S is super affordable!
Unbelievable Price
This 8K resolution printer will be available at a retail price as low as $349.99!
Isn’t it crazy?
The Sonic Mini 8K S is so affordable that, in fact, it would be the first 8K printer to be sold at such an unbeatable price, further realizing Phrozen’s dream of bringing 3D printing technology to the mass.
Now, did we miss anything? Is there anything else you want to know about this new printer that we have yet to cover? Leave your questions in the comment below!

Sonic Mini 8K S does not support .ctb file. You have to set your printer model as Sonic Mini 8K S in your slicer software and save your sliced model as a .PRZ file, which the Mini 8K S could recognise.
Hope this helps.
